My name is Jessica and I am proud to call myself a runner.
Journey to 26.2
In my twenties, I told myself that I would run the New York City Marathon before I turned 30. After an injury sidelined me – and 30 came and went – I almost gave up on that dream. And then my sister did it. Watching her cross the finish line was one of the best moments of my life – it was so inspiring! A year later, I finally crossed the finish line at age 39.
Just Keep Running
I thought I would run the marathon once, but in true type-A fashion, I just kept running. I had to find out if I could get faster, stronger, and better with my runs. I’ve learned a lot since I first started: the importance of mixing speed work in with slow runs; what a tempo pace actually feels like; the best running gear; and how to run on a plant-based diet. Most of all, I’ve learned to have fun!
Let’s Do This!
I started this blog to share the tips I’ve learned on this journey. Everything from making time to run, where to run, what to wear, what to eat, and how to recover. One of my favorite things about the running community is that we cheer each other on. I’m looking forward to building a community here so we can do just that. Let’s do this!
